Running The Loon Mountain Race

Over the last weekend, I spent time running the Loon Mountain Race with friends in Lincoln, NH.

I've had the great pleasure of running the race several times over the last few years, with this being my 4th time braving the mountain's terrain and the infamous Upper Walking Boss (the final incline, at a 40% grade, heading to the finish line at the summit!). I guess my legs and lungs had had just enough time to forget the "fun" that they have on that part of the mountain.

With several friends enjoying the experience for their first time, it was a great weekend all around. And, as it had felt the day prior, that we were up to our shoulders in a heat and humidity wave, the race day weather couldn't have been any better.

I always appreciate the organization and passion of the race directors, staff, volunteers, spectators, and fellow athletes. Special thanks to Loon Mountain Resort, Acidotic Racing, and to Joe Viger Photography!

If you ever happen to be in Lincoln, New Hampshire in the earlier part of July, be sure to be there in support. Or, even better, sign up earlier and take part in the challenge by running the Loon Mountain Race alongside us!

I know that I'll be back again next year for the race and the camaraderie.
