Running for St. Jude
In April of 2020, I'll be running for St. Jude in the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series in Nashville, TN.
I've just completed registration, and am getting my training ducks in a row to prepare for the 26.2 miles of the RnR Marathon in Nashville.
This will be my second trip to Nashville (the first was for another race in Tennessee; the Barkley Fall Classic).
Where that last race put me "out there"
in the woods and mountains of Wartburg, Tennessee, this one will be more of a tour of the city streets.I'm a fan of both!
Especially important to me is that I'll be able to run this race for charity, in support of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
This will be my first time as an active fundraiser for their foundation, and as a participant in an RnR event.
With 234 days (from the time of this writing) to train, mentally and physically, I'm confident that I'll be in solid shape for race day.
By the way, it'd be awesome to have some running partners, who are up for the challenge of both running and fundraising, register, as well.
Here's a Bit About St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
- Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food - because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
- Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90%, and they won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
- St. Jude freely shares the discoveries it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.
